Airliner “Tugs” Proposed for O’Hare Airport

An airliner gulps gallons of jet fuel each minute as it taxis thousands of miles around airports every year.  In a bid to help airlines at O’Hare International Airport conserve fuel and cut expenses, one company has proposed a “tug” towing service for planes, which would burn less than a half-gallon of diesel fuel per minute, compared with almost six gallons of the more expensive jet fuel that a Boeing 757 would burn.
